Shearer 8/11 To Leave Newcastle Before Barton

Newcastle midfielder, Joey Barton, has been suspended from the club until further notice following rumours of a dressing room bust-up with Alan Shearer at Anfield on Sunday and football betting specialists,Sky Bet, are offering odds on his future at St James’ park.

The infamous 26-year-old was sent off for a reckless challenge on Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso resulting in a three-match ban and ending his season and Sky Bet are offering odds on who will leave the Toon first - Barton or Shearer. The Harrogate based firm make Barton an even money chance.

Having failed to reinvigorate the Magpies’ survival bid since taking over as interim manager on April 1st, Alan Shearer is 8/11 favourite to leave St James’ Park before Barton.

Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman, Helen Jacob, said: “Barton looks to have burnt all his bridges now with Newcastle but there’s a good chance that Shearer will walk away from the club if they are relegated, which is looking increasingly likely.”

In Sky Bet’s Premier League football manager betting, Shearer is 5/4 still to be at the helm of Newcastle at the start of next season. Jo Kinnear is Sky Bet’s 4/1 second favourite to fill the St James’ Park hot seat on a permanent basis.

Sky Bet are offering a host of Premier League betting opportunities for Magpies fans. Shearer is 11/4 not to get a win from Newcastle’s final three games against Middlesbrough, Fulham and Aston Villa. Three points from safety, Newcastle host fellow strugglers Middlesbrough next Monday and are 11/10 to win the six-pointer (Boro 11/4, draw 9/4). 18th placed Newcastle are 1/2 with Sky Bet to be playing Championship football next season

Newcastle striker, Michael Owen, was left on the bench at Anfield on Sunday and Sky Bet make him 10/11 to be playing for the club on the opening day of next season. He is 5/1 for a return to Merseyside by signing for Everton and 8/1 to join Man City.
