Richmond draft pick Dustin Martin could be in line to make his debut in the NAB Cup this weekend as the Tigers kick off their campaign against Hawthorn.
The Tigers, who are 41.00A$ to win the AFL’s pre-season tournament with sportsbet.com.au, have recruited 14 new players to the club during the off-season but it is believed that only Martins, Troy Taylor, David Astbury and Trent Cotchin will be handed starts at the Aurora Stadium on Saturday.
Rookie Martin was selected as the Tigers’ third draft pick and his hard work and willingness to learn seems to have paid off with team-mate Brett Deledio impressed with how quickly he has adapted to senior football.
Deledio told AFL.com: “Martin has come in and played some good footy early on. He has put a few of us older blokes to shame.
“He’s nearly bigger than most of and he wins a bit of his own footy. Hopefully it will be exciting and we get our chance against a good opposition in Hawthorn this week.”
Best yet to come from Kyle Eastmond, says St Helens coach
