Los Angeles Lakers Odds for 2010 NBA Championship

Betting Press Staff - 25 Jan 2010

The Lakers are losing favor with the betting public a little, as Cleveland starts to shorten.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been losing ground lately in the Western Conference as the Denver Nuggets, winners of 5 in a row, are playing the best basketball in the west.  With Cleveland growing more and more threatening as the season progresses, the Los Angeles Lakers have started to lose ground in the futures market to that.

However, Los Angeles still remain the odds-on favorite to win this season's NBA Championship and here's a look at the prices for the top 8 teams for that event:

1.  Los Angeles Lakers, +229 (about 23/10), Sky Bet
2.  Cleveland Cavaliers, +350 (7/2), Sky Bet
3.  Boston Celtics, +450 (9/2), Blue Square
4.  Orlando Magic, +800 (8/1), Players Only
5.  San Antonio Spurs, +1600 (16/1), Blue Square
6.  Denver Nuggets, +2000 (20/1), Players Only
7.  Atlanta Hawks, +2200 (22/1), Blue Square
8.  Dallas Mavericks, +2500 (25/1), Players Only

The number that really sticks out is the price on the Denver Nuggets at +2000 (20/1).  While no one is really picking them to beat Los Angeles in a playoff series, it cannot really be denied that they at least have the athletes and lineup that could accomplish that feat.  At +2000 to win the title, there's value there and they are worth a moderate bet.
