Amir Khan says that the perfect way to make his debut in America would be to fight Juan Manuel Marquez and Sky Bet make Khan’s odds of beating the Mexican superstar 4/6, with Marquez 11/10 and a drawn fight a 25/1 chance.
Sky Bet’s boxing betting spokesman Scott Springgay said: “Khan seems unlikely to face Maidana but will go for a bigger name in America to boost his profile. A victory over Marquez will do exactly that. This will be Khan’s toughest test yet but under Freddie Roach I can see him taking the ageing Marquez the distance and winning by a clear decision.”
If Khan manages to land his dream fight against Marquez, it could scotch Ricky Hatton’s chances of fighting the Mexican in his return to the ring later this year. Sky Bet make Hatton the 11/10 outsider against Marquez (8/11, drawn fight 25/1) should the bout take place this year.
