Raymond van Barneveld odds cut after nine-darter

Betting Press Staff - 28 Dec 2009

Raymond van Barneveld is 9/1 with sponsors Ladbrokes to win the PDC World Championship after producing a nine-dart finish during his 4-0 win over Brendan Dolan in the second round at Alexandra Palace.

The Dutchman put himself in line for a £25,000 bonus after a perfect opening leg to the third set, following two 180s with a treble 20, treble 19 and double 12.

"To hit a nine-darter was wonderful and the crowd really showed their appreciation," Van Barneveld told pdc.tv.

The five-time world champion will next face Kevin Painter and he added: "He beat me at this stage of the competition two years ago and I know it will be a tough match."

There was a shock when Ronnie Baxter thrashed much-hyped Scot Gary Anderson 4-0 in Barney's quarter of the draw.

Phil Taylor, who is safely through to the third round, remains 4/11 with Ladbrokes to secure a 15th title, while James Wade is a 9/1 chance.
