Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano has told new Liverpool FC manager Roy Hodgson that he wants to leave the club, according to reports coming out of Anfield.

Hodgson has had talks with Mascherano’s agent, Walter Tamer and it is being reported worldwide that the agent has informed Hodgson that his client no longer wants to stay on Merseyside.

Mascherano’s Liverpool future has been in doubt for the whole summer and he has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan, where he would team up again with former Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

Benitez would love to team up with Argentinian once again and the current Champions League holders are the favourites with Skybet to snap him up at 1/8.

If Mascherano does exit Anfield then Hodgson will be looking for a replacement and Scott Parker and Sulley Muntari are reportedly high on the former Fulham manager’s wish list.

Where will Javier Mascherano end up?

Inter Milan - 1/8
Barcelona - 12/1
Real Madrid - 16/1
Manchester City - 20/1
Chelsea - 25/1
