Werder Bremen v Valencia - Europa League preview and betting tips

Valencia in desperate need of Europa League victory.

Spanish giants Valencia go into tonight’s Europa League second-leg clash with Werder Bremen needing a win in Germany to guarantee qualification for the competition’s quarter-finals.

A one-one draw in the Mestalla has put Bremen in the driving seat in the tie, and the German side are a best-priced 4/5 (Coral) to qualify, and 6/5 (Totesport) to win on the night.

A goal-less draw (14/1, SkyBet) would also be enough to see Werder Bremen progress, although with the firepower available to both sides that result looks unlikely.

Valencia, who are 13/5 (Bet365) to win in Germany, didn’t have the best preparation for tonight’s game, losing three-nil to Barcelona, and the Spaniards haven’t won in their last four matches, in all competitions.

They do, however, possess arguably the best striker in the world, in the form of David Villa (13/2, Coral) who can always be relied upon to score at some point during a match, and 7/4 (Coral) that he finds the net tonight is probably a little on the big side.

One goal for Valencia will completely change the complection of the tie, and Bremen’s priority will, therefore, be to keep a clean sheet (12/5, Paddy Power) as the more the game gets stretched, the greater the likelihood of Valencia’s pace on the counter attack, with Mata (10/1, Bet365), Joaquin (16/1, Coral) and David Silva (10/1, Coral), punishing the home side.

A one-one draw (13/2, SkyBet) would take the tie to extra-time, but in a game where over 2.5 goals (8/11, Coral) looks likely, a better option on the draw (5/2, Bet365) is two-two (14/1, Totesport), which would see Valencia progress (6/5, Bwin)

Recommendations

Anytime Goalscorer – David Villa (7/4, Coral)

To Qualify – Valencia (6/5, Bwin)

Correct Score – Werder Bremen 2 Valencia 2 (14/1, Totesport)
