West Ham United FC have rejected an undisclosed bid for key midfielder Scott Parker from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Parker had an amazing season for the Hammers last time out and was rewarded with a place in England’s pre-World Cup squad before eventually missing out on the final 23-man squad.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been a keen admirer of Parker for sometime and is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of their Champions League campaign.

But Hammers co-owner David Sullivan has knocked back Spurs’ request and is adamant that stars players like Parker are the future of the club.

Sullivan told the club website: “I made a promise that I would not sell Scott and I will not, for any amount of money, break that promise to the West Ham supporters.

"Scott is not for sale at any price, to anyone. West Ham supporters, for too long, have had owners that sell their best players and promise one thing and do another.

"This is a new era. We are building a bigger, better West Ham and when we make a promise, we honour it."

West Ham have also confirmed that talks have been opened with Parker's agent regarding a new five-year contract.

The Hammers are currently available at 2500/1 to win the Premier League, while they are 9/2 to be relegated to the Championship.
