Zaynar heads competitive Champion Hurdle entry

Zaynar is the 9/2 favourite with totesport for the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle after the entries for the two-mile event were revealed this afternoon. 

A total of 21 of the 34 entries for the race have come from Irish trainers and they are responsible for the next two in the market in the shape of Go Native and Solwhit who are available at 5/1 and 11/2 respectively.

‘The Irish could be out in force in this year’s Champion Hurdle and at the moment it’s shaping up to be a fiercely competitive race,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo. ‘At the moment, it’s virtually impossible to say what will go off favourite.’

Solwhit aims to cement his place at this year’s Cheltenham Festival when he takes on ten rivals in this weekend’s Toshiba Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown. Charles Byrnes’ gelding is the 4/5 favourite with totesport for the race with Celestial Halo next in the market at 9/4.
