Betting Press Staff - 9 Jun 2010

Toulouse are the 4/1 favourites in the Heineken Cup outright betting following the draw for the pool stages.

Toulouse were drawn alongside 2007 winners Wasps (22/1), Glasgow Warriors (100/1) and Newport Gwent Dragons (150/1) in Pool 6. It’s 2/7 for Guy Noves’ side to top Pool 6 with Wasps 11/4 and Glasgow Warriors 25/1 (Newport Gwent Dragons 25/1).

Guinness Premiership champions Leicester are 8/1 for European glory after being handed a favourable draw. The Tigers have been drawn alongside Scarlets (28/1), Perpignan (9/1) and Treviso (5000/1).

Northampton, who were the only English club to progress to the quarter-finals last season, are 16/1 for Heineken Cup glory after being drawn with Amlin Cup winners Cardiff Blues (22/1), Edinburgh (100/1) and Castres (33/1).

London Irish are 50/1 to lift their first Heineken Cup after they were handed a tough draw. Toby Booth’s side meet two-time winners Munster (7/1) along with Magners League champions Ospreys (14/1) and French side Toulon (25/1).

Sky Bet’s Tim Reynolds said: “Champions Toulouse will be confident of making it five Heineken Cup titles after been handed a favourable draw. They shouldn’t have any problems topping Pool 6, which would see them have an all-important home tie in the quarter-finals.”

With the French teams dominating the Heineken Cup outright betting, it’s 10/11 for a French side to lift the trophy. It’s 11/4 an Irish side lifts the trophy and 3/1 an English side (15/2 Welsh side and 66/1 a Scottish team).
