Andy Murray has been handed a tough draw for the ATP World Tour Finals at The O2 in London but will take heart from some impressive past form figures against his fellow Group A hopefuls.
The Scot holds a 6-3 career record against Roger Federer, is 4-1 ahead of Juan Martin Del Potro on past meetings and has only lost one of eight previous meetings with Fernando Verdasco.
"Whoever you draw is going to be tough,” said Murray, who reached the semi-finals of this tournament in Shanghai last year.
“Obviously I look forward to playing Roger. I've played Juan a few times on the tour recently and also had a close match recently with Verdasco indoors in Valencia.
"It's a tough group but if I play well I think I have a good chance of qualifying."
Murray is 4/1 with Stan James to claim outright victory in the season finale with Stan James, who make Federer and Novak Djokovic 11/4 joint-favourites.
The Scot is 4/11 with Stan James to qualify for the semi-finals and 13/8 there to finish top of his pool section.
Federer is 7/5 to win Group A, with Del Potro rated a 4/1 chance and Verdasco 8/1.
Djokovic is 13/8 favourite to lead the way in Group B, with Rafael Nadal 9/4, Nikolay Davydenko 10/3 and Robin Soderling 9/2.
