Hawthorn Hawks and Sydney Swans, who finished first and third respectively on the league ladder, are already through to the Preliminary Finals with two from the West Coast Eagles, Adelaide Crows, Collingwood Magpies and Fremantle Dockers set to join them.

West Coast continue to be the best backed team of the weekend, in from $2.15 to $2.05 with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.

The money has come five to one in favour of West Coast despite being underdogs, with Collingwood drifting from $1.70 to $1.78.

In the other semi-final, Fremantle had double the amount of bets over Adelaide earlier in the week, however there has been strong support for the Crows over the last 24 hours including one bet of $7,000. This has seen them firm again from $1.65 back into $1.60.

Sportsbet.com.au spokesman Shaun Anderson said: “Despite the Pies finishing higher on the ladder and playing at home, punters are convinced that the Eagles will get up this weekend and keep snapping up the odds. If the level of support continues they will start ever shorter come Saturday.

“All the action was for the Dockers earlier in the week, but the momentum has switched back to the Crows with punters thinking it is unlikely they will lose at home two weeks in a row.”
