Britain's Got Talent 2010 odds: Olivia Archbold backed for glory

Punters have been snapping up early prices on teenage singer

Teenage singer Olivia Archbold has been promoted to second favourite for Britain's Got Talent 2010 after a stunning performance on the latest auditions show.

The 14-year-old, from Newton-le-Willows, wowed the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience with her rendition of the Sarah McLachlan classic In The Arms Of The Angels.

"That was utterly spellbinding," said Amanda Holden. "You've got such a lovely quality to your voice. It was a very professional and confident performance."

Piers Morgan added: "What I really like about you is that I don't think you really know how good you are. You came on and you were very shy and very humble and then you just sang utterly beautifully."

Simon Cowell concluded: "We've had lots of young singers come out and take on a song which is just way, way too big for them, but you sang that so well and you made it your version of the song. I am so, so impressed with you!"

Three yes votes sent Olivia through to the next stage and she has been backed from 10/1 to 5/1 with Coral to go all the way in this year's contest.

"The 10/1 we quoted immediately after seeing her sing on Saturday didn't last very long at all and after taking more bets at 8/1 and 6/1 too, we are now half our original price, with some hefty liabilities," said Coral spokesman Gary Burton. "She is now a serious challenger to last week's big favourite Spelbound."
