Barcelona held to Champions League draw by AC Milan

Barcelona are 6/5 favourites with Bet365 to win the Champions League after drawing the first leg of their quarter-final 0-0 away to AC Milan.

The Catalan club typically had the bulk of possession, but their hosts held out and even created some good chances of their own.

Robinho had a great opportunity for Milan only to fire a close-range shot over the crossbar, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic also failed to convert when clean through on goal.

Lionel Messi who, as usual, was in blistering form, did find the net for Barcelona but was denied his 50th Champions League goal by a correctly raised offside flag.

The Argentinian superstar also had a powerful shot late on saved by goalkeeper Christian Abbiati before Cristian Tello’s attempt on the rebound was cleared.

It was the first time in 30 Champions League games that title holders Barcelona, seeking a fourth victory in the competition in seven years, had failed to score.

The second leg takes place on Tuesday, April 3 and Pep Guardiola’s side are 1/4 for a victory in 90 minutes that would take them into the semi-finals.

AC Milan are 10/1 to win in normal time and the draw is a 5/1 chance, with the Italian club 20/1 to lift the trophy in Munich on May 26.

Messi remains the red-hot favourite to finish as top goalscorer in the Champions League this term, but his odds have been eased to 2/7 after he failed to add to his total of 12 this season in the San Siro.
