Sun Chariot Stakes and Cambridgeshire moves

Ghanaati remains all the rage for Saturday’s Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot stakes at Newmarket as punters side with Barry Hills’ filly in the Group One contest.

William Hill priced-up the 1000 Guineas winner at a stand-out 15/8 when opening betting at the five-day stage, but money has proved relentless for the daughter of Giant’s Causeway and she is now just 11/8, with second-favourite Fantatsia eased to 10/3 from 11/4.

Spokeswoman Kate Miller said: "Like her Guineas-winning counterpart Sea The Stars in the Arc, Ghanaati is the only horse that punters have wanted to back since we opened betting on the Sun Chariot.

"Backers love to see class, and Ghanaati’s Group One wins confirm that, with the added addition of her course and distance record."

A number of runners are jostling for favourtism with Hills at the head of the Cambrigeshire betting, with at least five in the mix to go off the shortest price on Saturday afternoon.

The last three days have seen a number of market moves, with the well-backed Sirvino now 9/1 favourite after good support.

Charm School continues his run up the betting order and is now 10/1 after being a 25/1 chance 10 days ago.

Others receiving late interest include Wannabe King, who was cut to 16/1 from 20/1 yesterday, whilst Supaseus has been another to attract recent business.

Miller added: "As always with the Cambridgeshire, the money has spoken and developed the market, with punters' fancies heading the list.

"Bushman remains our worst result after early ante-post support but Sirvino, Charm School, Supaseus and Salute Him will all hit us where it hurts if prevailing."

Swop is the latest market mover with Ladbrokes for this race, being cut into 10/1 from 12/1 as Sirvino clings onto favouritism here.

"The Cambridgeshire looks to be even more competitive than usual and Swop is the latest horse to stake a claim for favouritism," said spokesman David Williams.

"We're still in the dark as to who will go off favourite for the big betting race."
