Wigan RLFC and St George are two of the biggest names in the world of rugby league and the two will go head to head in the World Club Challenge early next year.

Wigan Warriors clinched their first Super League title since 1998 on Saturday with a 22-10 win over St Helens at Old Trafford.

St George, who are now known as St George Illawarra Dragons following a merger with Illawarra Steelers in 1999, won their first title since 1979 when they defeated the Sydney City Roosters on Sunday.

Although no venue or date has been confirmed the World Club Challenge is believed to be held over in England at the end of March with the winning being able to crown themselves the best team in the world.

Melbourne Storm are the current holders following their win over Leeds Rhinos, only that triumph was overshadowed by the decision to strip them of their NRL title after they broke the salary cap.
